The University of Buenos Aires in the Top 50 Worldwide

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) has achieved a significant milestone by ranking among the world’s best universities in the prestigious annual QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) subject rankings. The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluate more than 1,500 universities worldwide, covering 5 broad areas and 53 specific subjects. In the 2024 edition, UBA particularly stood out in the area of Arts and Humanities, where it ranked among the top 50 globally. Additionally, it achieved notable positions in several specific subjects:

  • Modern Languages: Maintained 21st place.

Advancements in Life Sciences and Medicine

Notable progress was observed in the thematic area of Life Sciences and Medicine, where UBA moved from 155th place in 2023 to 147th in 2024. This rise reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and its ability to overcome financial challenges.

The QS subject rankings do not focus on specific courses but rather on areas of study or knowledge due to the diversity of nomenclatures across different parts of the world. The classification is based on academic reputation and employer reputation, obtained through perception surveys, as well as the number of published and cited articles in peer-reviewed specialized journals.

UBA’s recognition in the QS Rankings is a testament to its resilience and educational quality, solidifying its position as a fundamental pillar in higher education both nationally and internationally. This achievement, in a context of financial constraints, highlights the institution’s dedication and continuous effort to remain in the global elite.
